We took a tired apartment overlooking Nairobi National Park and rebuilt it, slowly, around the way we ourselves like to travel: quiet rooms, beautiful light, and people who answer the phone.

The residence is a collaboration with London designer Cosima Vance, who sourced furniture from estate sales across Europe and commissioned the brass and oak joinery from a small workshop in Oxfordshire.
Each linen is changed daily; each book on the shelf has been read. The kitchen is stocked with what we'd want at home — proper coffee, real butter, a few decent bottles.
If something is missing, our concierge is one message away. If nothing is missing, we hope you'll forget the time.
